Switzerland you were a wild and quick weekend adventure! I have a friend from my home university who has been living in Switzerland with his family for a few years (@ the greatest human ever Noah!!) and he was so kind and invited me down for a weekend! The journey was quick and all over the country (Geneva --> Lausanne --> Basel) and although it left me tired and with an approaching cold, I could not be more sad to leave this beautiful country.
The weekend started Friday afternoon when my flight landed in the sunny Geneva. As the nerd I am I knew that seeing the UN was on the top of my list to do while in Geneva. And I got to see it!!! And I got a badge with my name & photo!!!

We got to see the three main conference rooms where the UN delegates and special committees meet and walk through the halls of the UN. Being in this place as a Poli Sci major who would love to do work in international relations or with refugees (the bottom photo is the room the refugee council meets in!!!) was such a cool experience and one I would never forget. I kept thinking how next time I show up it better be for work :) And to finish off my time in Geneva I was gifted a beautiful sunset over the lake.

The next city to explore with my friend and his family was Lausanne - a beautiful town along the lake overlooking the mountains. All I can say about this amazing place is: great people, so much good food, and amazing scenery. While in the Swiss 'country-side' I was able to walk through the vineyards, try the best swiss chocolate (voted on annually), and eat a crepe on the water. So grateful for my friend and his family being the most gracious hosts!

My final morning was spent taking a train to Basel which is in the german-speaking part of Switzerland and situated along the Rhine river. I was able to walk from the train station and explore Old Town for a few quick hours. I missed being in the french-speaking part and also didn't enjoy spending an arm and leg for my grocery store lunch (RIP to my bank account) but the views and sunny shore-line along the river made up for it! Switzerland was so beautiful and I loved being able to explore so much of the country in such a short weekend!
