Hygge is the "art of creating intimacy". With no direct english translation this Danish word acknowledges a special feeling or moment. It can be alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary but it is always cozy, charming, and special. Hygge literally only requires a conscious appreciation, a certain slowness, and the ability to not just be present – but to recognize and enjoy the present. That’s why so many people distill ‘hygge’ down to being a ‘feeling’ – because if you don’t feel hygge, you probably aren’t using the word right. (from hyggehouse.com)

"Chasing hygge" the name of the game from Jan. to May. Coming from the midwest I know a thing or two about cold and winter - but little about how to make it magical. This is my journey of a lifetime to get to experience calling another country home, even if it is just for a short while. Follow me along on this adventure filled with experiences and memories and hopefully lots of hygge.
